An eleven- and twelve-year-old sibling pair from Gallia County in the state of Ohio were hanging out with an 18-year-old family member when things recently went horribly wrong.
According to the local TV station WSAZthe brothers had been visiting relatives in West Virginia for a couple of days, and were scheduled to return home the same day the accident took place.
Before the trip home, the eleven-year-old wanted one last trip with the UTV. A UTV is a larger and more powerful vehicle than an ATV.

In the UTV sat the pair of brothers, as well as the 18-year-old driver – and a dog.
“Just after 2.30pm on Stonecoal Road, the eleven and twelve-year-old were passengers in a UTV, which was driven by the cousin’s 18-year-old boyfriend. A family dog was along for the ride and jumped on the floor and stepped on the gas pedal,” writes WSAZ.
The sudden speed sent the UTV abruptly off the road.
– Who would have ever thought that a pet would jump down and do something like that, asks Wayne Williamson in Kermit Fire and Rescue.
Trudging work for 20 years
When the emergency services arrived at the scene, the eleven-year-old was pronounced dead.
The older brother and the 18-year-old were taken to hospital without life-threatening injuries. The dog suffered minor injuries in the collision.
– It’s heartbreaking. Relatives and those involved need to be in their prayers, says Williamson.
