Airborne collision in Valsugana. A hang glider and a paraglider came into contact near Vetriolo. The pilot of the aircraft, a German tourist, was killed in the crash to the ground, while the other person involved is not in danger of life.
The crash in flight
Around 4.45 pm on Saturday in Vetriolo, a locality in the municipality of Levico Terme in Valsugana, a hang glider and a paraglider collided at an altitude of about 1600 meters, according to the news agency ‘Adnkronos’.
Both people involved, the hang glider pilot and the person who paraglidedthen fell to the ground, but the second managed to open the emergency sail which slowed down their descent.

The incident happened in full view of several witnesses who first saw the aircraft and the paraglider crash and then the two men fall to the ground.
Immediate help
The presence of several people on the ground allowed the rescuedcoordinated by the single emergency center of Trentino, to be notified immediately after the plane crash and to intervene promptly.

The calls arriving at 112 immediately activated the emergency structures and in a short time a helicopter was able to get airborne to search for the two men who had fallen to the ground.
The first to be spotted was the occupant of the paraglider, which was recovered by the air rescue technician and by the team of doctors and health workers on board. A little later the hang glider was also spotted.
The death of the hang glider pilot
When the rescuers reached the wreckage of the small aircraft, however, they could only ascertain the death of the pilot, a German tourist. The transport of the body was then carried out by the personnel of the mountain rescue and the land fire brigade.

Meanwhile the other person involved in the accident was airlifted up at the Santa Chiara hospital in Trento. Doctors immediately assessed his condition and it does not appear that his life is in danger.
