Tragic Accident: Woman Dies After Being Hit by Car on Zebra Line in Kollam

Puthur (Kollam) ∙ A young woman who got off the bus and crossed the road on the zebra line at the junction lost her way and died after being hit by a speeding car. Ansu Tresa Antony (25), daughter of Molly and KC Antony, died in Kalathukunnel at Idukki K Chappath Maruthumpetta. The police registered a case against Jayakumar as an accused in Neelakilethu, Chennirkara, Pathanamthitta, who caused an accident by driving his car carelessly and at excessive speed. The car is in custody.

The accident took place on MC Road near Kulakada Vadagshala Junction at 7 am on Wednesday. Ansu completed his MBA from Kerala Central University, Kasaragod, Periya. He had come by bus to attend a job interview at a college in Karuvele. Instead of going via Puthur, he got off at Kulakada instead of Puthur Muk.

After asking the autorickshaw driver for directions, Ansu was walking to the other side of the road on the zebra line to catch the bus when the speeding car hit him. The cause of the accident was that this car overtook another car and rushed to the right side of the road. Anzu was knocked down when he reached the end of the zebra line. The speed limit at the accident site is 30 kmph. Eyewitnesses said that the car was driving at more than twice this speed.
