On Saturday, just before 4 p.m., the police received a report that a man was lying underwater in the waterfall. The man was on a walk with his family when their dog slipped into the waterfall.
The family has explained that when one of the family members tried to save the dog, that person had problems getting ashore. The man is said to have jumped into the water and helped save the family member and the dog, but was himself dragged backwards and under the waterfall itself. All emergency services rushed to the scene, and a search was launched for the man.
He was found at 5:12 p.m., and shortly afterwards was pronounced dead on the spot, the police write in a press release.
The bereaved have asked the police to convey that they are grateful for the efforts made by the rescue team, and for the support they have received afterwards. They ask for respect for the fact that they now want peace in a difficult time.
