To a tragic accident occurred on Thursday shortly before half past nine in the morning in the Vsetín part of Horní Jasenka. “The driver in his car drove in the opposite direction when passing a right turn and got off the road into the woods. He stopped at a full-grown tree. The 43-year-old driver suffered serious injuries, which he succumbed to on the spot, “said police spokesman Petr Jaroš.
Šafařík was a Vsetín offspring, and it was in his parent club that he started his career in the 1990s, ie in the golden era of Vsetín hockey. He got his first chance in the A-team in the 1996/97 season, the biggest space on the ice in the extra-league year 2001/2002, when he hit 37 duels for Vsetín.
