The chef, identified only as Issa Ismail, was making chicken soup for a wedding party on June 15 in the Zakho district, northern Iraq. At the time, the father of three was preparing a meal at Hazel Hall for a wedding when the accident occurred.
Ismail suddenly slipped and fell into the big pot. Ismail, who has been a cook for about eight years, was then rushed to a hospital in the nearby town of Dohuk for treatment. He had third-degree burns on more than 70 percent of his body.
After battling severe burns for several days, Ismail died on June 21. His tragic death has sparked anguish on social media when news of this accident emerged to the public.

“The deceased cooked meals at weddings, funerals and various ceremonies, and for two years he has been working in the two-party hall for 25,000 dinars per day,” said one of his relatives, Zervan Hosni, as quoted from Independent, Wednesday (30/6/2021).
