Tragic events happened to school children in Australia who are having fun. Five children were killed and several others seriously injured when a gust of wind blew their castle ride into the air during the end of term party today, Thursday (16/12).
As reported by the news agency AFP, Thursday (12/16/2021), the police said that students at an elementary school (SD) in Devonport, Tasmania the north were celebrating the last week of class before the Christmas holidays, when they were thrown from a height of about 10 meters.
This tragic incident occurred when the children were playing on the bouncy castle ride (bouncy castle). A gust of wind then flew the vehicle into the air and made the children fall from a height.
Police earlier confirmed two boys and two girls from fifth and sixth grades – usually aged around 10-12 – were killed in the incident. However, later the fifth student was declared dead at the hospital.
Several rescue helicopters and ambulances rushed to the scene after the incident, which occurred around 10am local time in the early sunny summer.
Photos from the school showed police officers present crying, and a blue tarp covering what officers described as a “very sad scene”.
A policy investigation is ongoing.
