Young talented cyclist Ten Kidane Tekeste died under the wheels of a car.
A cyclist from the African state of Eritrea was hit by a car during training. She didn’t survive the accident. The International Cycling Union (UCI) has expressed regret on the social networks over the loss of the young racer. “Ten Kidane Tekeste, with her constant smile, kindness, respect and deep passion for cycling, was a emerging young talent that we will greatly miss,” UCI representatives wrote on Twitter.
The World Cycling Center team, for which Tekeste raced, said the sadness of losing one of her most talented competitors could not be expressed in any way. The official account of the Women’s Tour de France also joined with condolences.

Words can’t express our sadness to hear of the passing of 21 year old UCI WCC athlete, Desiet Kidane Tekeste from Eritrea.
Tekeste took part in the Grand Prix in France in October. She also represented at the World Road Cycling Championships earlier this year, but did not finish the race. In 2018, she won the African Continental Championship in the junior road race and in the time trial.
