Four children have died after being swept away by a tidal wave while fishing on the banks of a river in the Canadian province of Quebec, police said.
“According to preliminary information, a group of 11 people was fishing along the coast when they were overtaken by the tide,” the police said.
The accident happened along the St. Lawrence River near Portneuf-sur-Nerre, a municipality northeast of Quebec.
The tidal wave dragged a total of 11 people into the sea – children and adults. Of them, 6 were saved, and 4 children drowned. A young man is wanted.
