On the night of Easter Sunday, he was killed when a man in his 30s ran over people on the pavement in the center of Steinkjer.
Sigve Bremset was at home in Steinkjer on Easter break from his job in the Piraya department at the defense at Rena camp.
Names and photos are released at the request of next of kin.
On the night he died, he had been to a concert in Steinkjer with friends. He leaves behind, among others, his mother in Trondheim, father in Steinkjer, three adult brothers and grandmother.
– Sigve was very active in sports and outdoor life, and he had a large group of friends in many environments. Sigve had a great ability to care for those around him, and he was a cool uncle to six uncles. He was proud of his job in the Armed Forces, his next of kin says via the social assistance lawyer.
The next of kin feel well taken care of after the incident and want peace in the future.
The murder happened at 02:00 when a van came driving onto the pavement on Kongens gate in the middle of Steinkjer town centre. Three people were hit. The two who survived are slightly injured.
The brakeman was taken to hospital by air ambulance, but his life could not be saved.
The next of kin were notified on Sunday morning.
On Sunday evening, a number of people gathered around the crime scene to remember Bremset.
Active and gentle
Several people VG has spoken to describe the 21-year-old as an active young man.
– He was a very happy boy, very happy to train, friend Sivert Lyngstad (26) previously told VG about Bremset.
VG has also spoken to Bremset’s former climbing coach at NTG Lillehammer, where he attended high school.
– He was a cheerful and active guy. He was purposeful and very determined to achieve what he was doing during the period I knew him. He was fond of more things than just climbing. He was also involved in outdoor activities and downhill skiing, says Jørn Andor Øwre Smørbøl and adds:
– This was very sad.
The accused pleads guilty
The driver of the van fled the scene, but was arrested a short time later a few kilometers away.
The man in his 30s is charged with negligent homicide and has pleaded guilty for this.
The police said earlier on Sunday that the collision appeared to be a deliberate act.
