Nicolás Ardila Angulo, 15, apparently interrupted the last hour of class to ask his teacher for permission to let him go out to drink water. When he left the classroom located on the fourth floor of the school block, he fell from a height of approximately 12 meters. The authorities are studying as a hypothesis, a possible case of self-elimination.
With 50 minutes left until the end of the class day, an event occurred that shocked students and the teaching team of the Anglo-Canadian School of Neiva. A young man of only 15 years old who was in the ninth grade lost his life after falling from a considerable height within the educational facility.

According to the information known to LA NACIÓN, it was 2:10 in the afternoon yesterday when the tragedy occurred. The minor, who was in his last hour of class on the fourth floor of the school block, apparently interrupted his teacher to request permission to leave the classroom to drink water.

The teacher, without imagining what would happen, agreed to the request and let 15-year-old Nicolás Ardila Angulo leave the room for a few minutes, which became the beginning of great chaos in the institution.

Another teacher who was near the site where the unfortunate event occurred was the one who apparently received the first alert. One of the students who witnessed her approached her telling her that another boy was going to jump on her.

In her desperate reaction to stop the student’s action, the teacher ran towards him, but it was too late. When Ardila Angulo realized it, she had already fallen from a height of approximately 12 meters.
As a result of the blow, Nicolás lost his life instantly. According to the medical examiner’s opinion, the young man suffered multiple fractures in his body.
It should be noted that the hypothesis being studied by the investigators states that the minor allegedly jumped into the void from one of the corners of the classroom, which has a bamboo roof and a low fence that acts as a wall.

It was precisely the astonishment of the students and teachers that ended up causing the tragic news to spread among the Anglo-Canadian parents. Moments prior to the victim’s fatal outcome were recorded on a security camera at the location that captured that moment. Units of the Sijin of the Neiva Metropolitan Police carried out the removal of the body that was taken to Forensic Medicine. They are now compiling the details of the case, to establish if it was a case of self-elimination or if there was some other action that determined the event.

After what happened, the institution spoke out indicating, “the Anglo-Canadian family deeply regrets the early departure of our student Nicolás Ardila Angulo to the bosom of our heavenly father. We fraternally accompany his parents David Camilo Ardila and María del Mar Angulo Morales, family, friends and all those who enjoy his company, certain that his journey will leave an indelible mark on our hearts. May his soul rest eternally in the Kingdom of the Lord and allow his family to find comfort in his early departure. RIP”.
For his part, the Secretary of Education of Neiva, Levid Bernal Quintero, announced that a special team from the inspection and surveillance area of the Municipal Education Secretariat will investigate the causes of this accident that claimed the life of the student.
“We accompany the educational community and the family of Nicolás Ardila Angulo, at this time,” added Bernal Quintero.
The mayor of Neiva Gorky Muñoz Calderón, published from his fan page, “we deeply regret the death of Nicolás Ardila Angulo, a student at the Anglo-Canadiense School of Neiva. We send our most sincere message of condolences to his parents David Camilo Ardila and María del Mar Angulo, at this painful moment. Likewise, we express our solidarity with the entire community of this educational center and we hope that God helps them find the necessary strength to face this loss, which hurts us all.”
The Anglo-Canadian School Parents Association also issued an emotional message of support to his family. “With immense pain in our souls, and on behalf of the ASOANGLO parents, we express our condolences to the family of Nicolás Ardila Angulo, who has lost a son, a nephew, a grandson. To the Anglo-Canadian school of Neiva that has lost a young student who was with us for several years. To all his colleagues and friends who mourn this great loss today. Finally, the educational community of the Anglo-Canadiense school will carry out a spiritual day this morning in solidarity with the minor’s family.
