Tragedy in the pool in Padula, a tearful farewell to Vincenzo

Yesterday morning the Montesano community gathered together in grief for the final farewell to Vincent Ficothe boy of just 13 years old whose life was tragically cut short on a day that should have been one of joy. Vincenzo drowned in a swimming pool of a farmhouse in Marsh. Vincenzo’s funeral was attended by hundreds of people. The bishop of the Diocese of Teggiano-Policastro officiated the funeral, in the church of the Sacred Eucharistic Heart, Anthony DeLucatogether with the parish priests of Montesano.

Vincenzo was a very active boy in the parish community. Only a month before the tragedy, he had participated in the Grest, the summer campus of the oratory, where he had distinguished himself for his kindness and his spirit of participation. On the coffin, as a testimony of this indissoluble bond, the oratory t-shirt was placed. Father Antonio, during the homily, gave voice to the questions that everyone asks themselves in moments like this: «Why, God? Why do you deprive us of our affections prematurely?». Questions that remain unanswered, fueling a pain that seems unbearable. However, the bishop wanted to remember that loved ones are entrusted to God, where they find eternal beauty. «May the memory of Vincenzo be a warning to us to live our present with dignity.».
