A 71-year-old man was stabbed to death by his roommate during a bloody fight at a nursing home in Midtown West, Manhattan (NYC).
Police were called to the “Dorothy Ross Friedman” residence on W. 57th St. near 10th Ave. around 10:50 pm Tuesday on a report of an assault in progress.
When they arrived at the scene, the agents found the victim stabbed in the back. His 78-year-old roommate had cuts on his hands and was arrested to be interrogated.
He recovered at the scene. a kitchen knife, which is believed to have been the murder weapon. The victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, but could not be saved. The names of those involved were not mentioned at the time. Neither of them had a criminal record.
The suspect was taken to the same hospital for treatment while in police custody. Charges against him are pending. Those prosecuted are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
