“Tragedy in Czech City: Eight Dead in Brno Container Fire”

Eight people have died in a fire in the Czech city of Brno. The fire raged in twelve connected containers. A police spokesperson says the victims are likely homeless. The victims have yet to be identified.

The fire started around 02:00 last night in containers that were next to an apartment complex. It is not yet known whether the containers were used as homes or as construction containers. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The emergency services have tried to save people, but a spokesperson told German media that this was in vain.

Prime Minister Fiala expresses condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Mayor Vankova of Brno also supports the relatives: “This is a huge human tragedy that cannot leave anyone indifferent”, she writes on Twitter.
