Tragedy in Burgas – two children drowned in Lake Mandra

No signs of violence were found on the boys’ bodies

Two boys aged 11 and 13 from the Burgas complex “Meden Rudnik” drowned in the lake “Mandra”, the police in Burgas announced. Their bodies were found by a diving team at the regional directorate “Fire safety and protection of the population” and NAFA employees.

At around 00.30 last night in the fourth RU a message was received from the parents of the two children that they went out to play at noon, but after evening they did not return to their homes. They searched for them in various places in the neighborhood, called friends and relatives, but when they found no traces, they alerted the police about their disappearance.

A joint team of Criminal Police officers was formed in a timely manner, who checked several more possibilities for the children’s whereabouts, but they were not found.

Around 09.00 today a fisherman signaled that he had noticed a human body in the water of Mandre Lake, in the area of ​​the pump station dike. A team of divers pulled out the body of the 13-year-old boy. With the assistance of NAFA officers, the search perimeter was expanded and the body of the 11-year-old boy was found at around 4 p.m.

No visible signs of violence were found during the inspection. The clothes, shoes and luggage of the children, left on stones on the dike near the place where the first body was found in the water, were found and confiscated. The boys probably went to bathe in the lake, but for unknown reasons they drowned.

The investigation of the tragic incident continues, the police specified.
