It is unclear how the child got out. The little boy, Simon, was sleeping when his parents went to the neighbours. They had the baby monitor with them. The little fellow would have crawled out of bed unnoticed and walked out of the house in his pajamas.

It was ten degrees outside. According to the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung the door was not locked. The child probably got lost outside. When his parents (aged 27 and 31) came home, they did not notice that Simon was not in his bed. Apparently they hadn’t even heard that Simon had crawled out of bed.
The boy was only found around 5 a.m. severely hypothermic and motionless in front of the garage. CPR was to no avail.
The family receives psychological support. The police are investigating the matter.
