“Santa Claus, who visited us only a few days ago, wished our team success, professionalism, the ability to act and find the most suitable solutions in unusual situations. And here is the New Year miracle that saved three lives. Our GMP team – Rosita, a paramedic, and Andrius, a paramedic, share this event and a burst of emotion.
On December 31st, at about 2pm, we received an emergency call – an 8-year-old boy who had fallen unconscious and started having seizures. The first thought that comes to mind is an epileptic seizure. With the beacons rushing to the call, planning a sequence of our actions halfway, we received a call from the dispatcher. The latter reported that the child did not have epilepsy and the seizures were still going on, ”the record said.
As the GMP team recalled, when it arrived at the call point, it was a large apartment building with berods 6 staircases.
“The information provided to us was only the number and height of the apartment, but we didn’t even think about which staircase and which door code to enter. Guessing the apartment number, we hurried to the stairwell, but after dialing the apartment number, no one opened the door. We tried again, but the end result is the same. We tried to call the number we were calling from – no response. We immediately realized that something was wrong here. And the minutes will …
Luckily for us, the inviting neighbor just walked into the house and let us in. And then something happened that we weren’t prepared for at all: as soon as we climbed to the right floor, a lightly dressed, semi-conscious man stumbles in the doorway of the apartment and starts shouting, “There are two children, there are two children, I don’t understand what’s going on!”
We paused for a moment, such consent really confused and knocked me out of the crayfish. As usual, our first question was, “What happened?”
As she passed through the man, the ambulance medics found the boy stunned, weakly squeaking.
“A man lying at the entrance door was still asking for help from the children and said there was a girl in the next room. We found a girl about 10 years old in another room, in bed. She was unconscious, gritted her teeth. We can’t see more … We started to get dark in our eyes, to feel weak. We both turned to each other and asked together “Feel?”, Says GMP.
Ambulance doctors say then that they realized it could be a gas poisoning: “We realized that this would probably be a gas poisoning and we could very soon become other victims of this poisoning. We quickly grabbed the children by the arms and carried them out into the corridor with the last force, and stretched their father as soon as possible. The next step was to start supplying oxygen to the victims. “

Here the GMP team had to share the work.
“While the doctor was examining the family, the paramedic ran to bring oxygen and call for help. Andrius continues the story: “As I drove towards the car, I felt that I was weak, as if in the eyes of the subject. I informed the dispatcher of the current situation of the victims, asked for the necessary services and at least one other ambulance team to be called in, and I warned that the condition of us, both members of the GMP team, could deteriorate at any time.
Outside, I said, “Help!”
The doctor, meanwhile, assessed the family’s health at any second, ready to begin resuscitation if necessary.
As soon as the oxygen reached the required level, we began to supply it to the victims as soon as possible, hoping that they would fully regain consciousness i Fortunately for us! The boy opened his eyes, was still crying and was able to say his name and age, the girl regained consciousness and answered questions, and the children’s father began to feel a little better. “
Then, as Rosita and Andrius said, relief and a wonderful feeling of warmth flooded in.
“At that time, the neighbors rushed with the blankets, brought water, turned on the gas and helped as much as they could. When the ambulance and other services arrived, the condition of the patients was already stable, we took the children in the ambulance and put the father in our GMP car. We left the services to work and transported the patients to the clinics. We later found out that the condition of the family was stable and yet it was poisoning with fumes.
Our Rosita and Andrius modestly say, “Maybe it’s a success story, but we’d like you not to identify with the heroes. For us, it was another watch, another call, and another difficult situation that we had to deal with. The real heroes in this situation were indifferent neighbors who responded to the cry for help, and the greatest hero was the father of the children, showing his paternal love, calling for help in time, being able to keep himself conscious and able to open the door with all his might. The whole situation could have ended in a great tragedy, but thanks to a caring father, everything was done on time, ”it is written in the recording of Kaunas District Ambulance Station.
