Tragedy for a family from the Capital. The parents of a 16-year-old girl who let their daughter go to Piatra Neamț, to a competition organized in a high school, found out that their daughter died because of drugs. It happened after the minor met a 19-year-old boy, who prosecutors say was a drug dealer.
The 16-year-old girl had left Bucharest, together with a friend, for a competition organized in a high school in Piatra Neamț. The girl arrived at the station after dark. The father says that, from what he was able to find out from his daughter’s friend, they separated at the train station, where a 19-year-old boy, whom he had met on the Internet, was waiting for her.

“She arrived at half past 10. She said her friend was sleeping and said she was taking a shower and going to bed. She was picked up from the train station by this boy around 9pm and left in the boy’s car. The boy’s parents were also in the home at the time. From what I understand, the boy’s mother would have called the ambulance”said the girl’s father.
After they got home, the boy would have proposed to the girl to consume a synthetic drug, called Cristal, and she accepted. It didn’t take long and he was hurt. The boy’s mother called an ambulance when she saw that the girl was bleeding profusely.
Radu Țincu, toxicologist: “They are synthetic substances, have high toxicity, act like amphetamine, produce a stimulation of the nervous and vascular system, convulsions, mental disorders, tachycardia or other disorders, hypertension can occur. In a vulnerable person with cardiac pathology, such a substance can even produce cardiac arrest.”
After the girl’s death, the police searched and discovered that the boy who waited for her at the station is actually a drug dealer, who was part of a network in Neamt. Hundreds of grams of high-risk drugs were found during the raids, including Cristal. Medical examiners determined that the girl died from an adverse reaction to the drug, which is extremely dangerous.
Cătălin Țone, anti-drug expert: “The concentration of the substance is not known, the consumer may in one phase consume the substance with 20-30% concentration, and later the trafficker may offer a quantity with a higher concentration, and then shock in the body and overdose may occur. It is a cheap drug, which is sold for between 7 and 15 lei per dose.”
Specialists from the Anti-Drug Agency say that parents should be very cautious because new drugs have entered the black market in Romania, and their children may be curious to try them.
Ramona Dabija, director of the National Antidrug Agency: “The new psychoactive substances are in 3rd place, after inhalants and cannabis in the category of drugs declared at the beginning”.
