(ANSA) – CIVIDALE DEL FRIULI, APRIL 24 – The ROS carabinieri, in collaboration with the organized crime fighting brigade of Brasov (Romania), carried out searches on people in the provinces of Udine, Brescia and Vicenza 6 under investigation for criminal association aimed at human trafficking and illegal immigration. At the same time, a coercive precautionary measure was carried out against 10 people resident in Romania and 2 searches were carried out against the same number of suspects resident in Austria. The “Déjà-Vu” operation was launched by delegation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Udine, following the tracing of 45 migrants on the Italian-Slovenian border, in Cividale del Friuli, in order to ascertain the possible existence of a broader and branched organization. It was discovered that the transnational criminal association was dedicated to human trafficking and illegal immigration: at its top, 3 Pakistani citizens resident in Romania were part of it, while 15 others, including Pakistanis and Romanians, were in charge of the management and transport of migrants in Romanian, Italian and Austrian territory. In particular, the irregulars were first made to enter Romania, using work visas for fictitious hiring in companies attributable to the organisation, and were then transferred, hidden on board heavy vehicles, to Italy and Austria with the collaboration of other associates, Pakistani and Romanian nationality, legally resident.
