Drivers should arm themselves with patience for today Friday (26/4), as already early in the morning the traffic is characterized as increased.
The traffic regulations in force with closed roads due to the torchlight procession have also contributed to this.
Specifically, according to the analysis of the Traffic, there is increased traffic on the following roads:
- Athens-Corinth/L. Athens (exit)
- Athens-Lamia (Athens to Kalyftaki junction – exit) ACHARNON HEIGHT
- Petrou Ralli HEIGHT OF THEBES
- Acharnon ANODOS
- Port of Piraeus
According to Google Maps, traffic congestion is recorded on the descent of Kifissos, from the height of Lykovrisis to Peristeri, while on the rise from the height of Aegaleos to Nea Ionia.
Until early Friday morning, increased traffic can be found parallel to Poseidonos Avenue, Alexandras Avenue as well as Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue.
The traffic regulations in force
Temporary traffic regulations have been put into effect since yesterday (Thursday, April 25) and are still valid today (Friday, April 26), due to the events for the delivery – reception of the Olympic Flame in the context of the XXXIII Olympic Games “PARIS 2024”, in areas of the Municipalities Megareon, Marathon, Lavreotiki, Palaio Faliro, Kallithea and Athens.
Due to the events during the delivery – reception of the Olympic Flame in the context of the XXXIII Olympic Games “PARIS 2024”, today Friday 26-4-2024, morning and afternoon hours, there will be a gradual and temporary stoppage of traffic along the road sections below, as following:
Municipality of Megareo (hours 08:00 – 09:00):
Minos – around the Central Square of Megara (Ceremony) – October 28 – Byzantium.
Marathon Municipality (hours 09:45-11:45):
Marathon Lake – near Platia Dim. Papastamou – around Heroes’ Square – Marathon Street – Dimokratis – Marathon Road Start (Ceremony) – Marathon Street (Nea Makri).
Municipality of Lavreotiki (12:10-13:30):
E.O. Rafina-Lauriou (park) – Kokori Panagioti – Cultural Center of Lavrio – Agia Paraskevi – Kountourioti – Souniou Street – Souniou Archaeological Site (Ceremony).
Municipality of Palaio Faliro (hours 14:15-14:40):
Posidonos St. – around EUGENIDIOU IDRIMATOS – Iasonos – Amphitheas St.
Municipality of Kallithea (hours 14:40-15:50):
Katsoni Street – Doirani – Evrypidou – STAVROS NIARCHOS FOUNDATION CULTURAL CENTER (Ceremony) – Syggrou Street.
Municipality of Athens (hours 15:50 – 18:30):

Drivers of vehicles are requested to avoid moving and stopping and parking their vehicles along the mentioned routes of the Olympic Torch Relay and to follow the signals of the traffic controllers.
