traffic restrictions planned during the marathon between Nice and Cannes

To ensure the smooth running of the race which will start this Sunday from the Promenade des Anglais, traffic will be prohibited on certain roads throughout the day.

Traffic restrictions are expected this Sunday during the Alpes-Maritimes marathon between Nice and Cannes. The axes on which the competitors will pass will be impacted.

Traffic prohibited on the entire route

The race will start at 8 a.m. from the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. The runners will then take the RD / RM 6098 seaside road before arriving on the Cannes Croisette. During the 42.195-kilometer course, competitors will also cross the towns of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve-Loubet, Antibes, Juan-les-Pins and Vallauris.

To ensure the smooth running of this 13th edition of the marathon which will pass 95% by the seaside, traffic restrictions will be put in place on the route this Sunday.

“Traffic will be prohibited on the entire route in both directions of traffic and diverted as a priority on the RD / RM 6007 and the A8”, specifies the department of Alpes-Maritimes and the Metropolis of Nice in a press release.

However, not all cities will be impacted at the same times. In Nice, the ban will be in place from 3 a.m. to 12 p.m. and in Cannes from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. In Antibes, the RD 6098 between Marina and Fort Carré as well as the passage de la Siesta on the RD 6007 and RD 6098 will be blocked from traffic between 6.30am and 2pm. Finally, in the other cities concerned by the marathon, the restrictions will apply from 6 a.m. or 6.30 a.m.

Traffic and parking restrictions from Saturday

At the end of the race and the clean-up of the event, traffic will again be possible on all the tracks “about an hour after the last runner has passed”, specifies the Alpes-Maritimes department.

The cars will be able to circulate again around 2 p.m. on all the roads concerned by the race with the exception of the Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes, place of arrival. The re-establishment of traffic is scheduled for 6 p.m.

It should also be noted that several parking restrictions may already be applied on the course from Saturday. Traffic may also be impacted in Cannes on this day.
