Traffic Remittances Follow Closure of Al-Haram Street Extension from Giza Square to Abbas Bridge

Giza Prepares for Major Traffic Changes as Metro Construction Begins

Starting February 1, 2025, Giza will witness meaningful‍ traffic ⁣disruptions as⁣ construction begins ⁣on the “14 – Giza” metro station, part of the‍ aspiring fourth line tunnel project. The General Management of ‍Giza Traffic has announced a thorough⁢ plan to manage the⁤ expected traffic densities and ensure smooth flow during the six-year construction period.

The⁣ project will ⁢require the total closure of Al-Ahram ‍Street between Giza Square and Abbas Bridge, specifically in front of ‌Al-Ramd Hospital. This closure, set ⁢to begin at⁣ 12:05 ‍AM on February 1,2025,will impact thousands of commuters daily. The Giza metal bridge⁢ house, which leads‍ to ‌Abbas and Al-Bahr Street, will also be⁤ removed to accommodate the construction.

To‌ mitigate the ⁢disruption, the General ‍Administration of Giza⁤ Traffic has outlined specific traffic diversions: ‍

  • Vehicles coming from Manial and Abbas Bridge ⁢heading ⁢towards Giza Square will be redirected to ⁢Murad Street.
  • Vehicles from Manial ‌and Abbas‍ Bridge aiming for Great Bahr⁤ Street will use the updated rotational opening direction towards the Abbas⁤ tunnel.
  • Vehicles traveling from the Giza ⁤metal ‍bridge⁤ and ⁤Giza Square towards⁢ Abbas Bridge and Manial will be directed to the beginning of⁢ the Abbas Bridge route. ⁢

The administration⁣ has emphasized its commitment to⁢ ensuring the safety and security of citizens ⁤during‍ this period.”The⁣ General Administration of Giza Traffic ‌will set the necessary traffic ‍services and coordinate with the implementing companies to provide‍ technical assistance and equipment indicating the presence of works in the region,” officials stated.

This project is part of Egypt’s broader efforts ‌to modernize its transportation infrastructure, following⁤ the recent opening of the Giza mega station, which aims to alleviate⁢ pressure on Cairo’s central Ramses⁢ Railway Station.

Below⁣ is a summary of ⁤the key traffic changes:

| Route ‌ ‌ ⁤ ‌ ⁤| Diversion ‍ ⁢ ⁢ ‍ ⁣ ‌ ⁤ ⁤ ‌ ‍ ⁤ ‌ |
|———————————-|——————————————————————————|
| Manial/Abbas Bridge ⁣→ Giza Square | Redirected‍ to murad Street ‍ ⁤ ⁣ ⁢ ⁣ ⁢ ⁤ |
| Manial/Abbas bridge → ⁤Great Bahr | Updated rotational‍ opening ‌towards Abbas tunnel ⁤ ‌ ⁤ |
