A traffic policeman, Aipda Abdullah, went viral because he cursed at a motorbike driver who violated traffic on Jalan Cikini Raya, Menteng, Central Jakarta. Polda Metro Jaya apologized regarding this incident.
Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman explained that the incident occurred on Tuesday (12/9) at 07.30 WIB on Jalan Cikini Raya, Menteng, Central Jakarta. At that time, the motorbike whose identity was not yet known committed a traffic violation.
Aipda Abdullah, who was on duty to regulate traffic, saw the violation committed by the motorbike. However, the motorbike did not stop and was cited for other violations.
“At that time, it was said that there were violators running a red light, but it’s not there yet, it seems, it’s already crossed the stop line. That’s why Abdullah stopped it. “After it was stopped, there were indeed other violations,” said La9/2023tif to journalists at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, Thursday (14/9/2023).
Latif said there was an argument between the two of them which ended in Aipda Abdullah hurling insults. Aipda Abdullah also admitted his actions and regretted them.
“There was a debate. Well, in this debate, the term might be from our officers. Frankly, we apologize for making a mistake in saying things that were inappropriate and of course we are the leaders of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya,” he explained.
Latif emphasized that his members’ actions were clearly wrong. He said officers should serve the public well even if the driver makes a mistake.
“Of course, people who carry out activities must receive the best possible treatment even if they commit violations,” he said.
Latif added that currently his party is still looking for the identity of the driver. Quick, Aipda Abdullah will meet him directly to apologize directly.
“We are still looking for the addresses of the violators. If we find them this afternoon, we will visit them directly. Personally, Abdullah has already apologized and he regrets his actions and of course this is a lesson for us and this is no longer in the field,” he said.
