Our well-known and not particularly European practice of the executioners hiding in the bushes and “surprising” the offenders from an ambush is returning. This was stated yesterday by the former MP from the Reform Bloc, Petar Slavov, on the occasion of the draft amendment to the Road Traffic Act submitted by GERB.
In one of the texts (Art. 165, Para. 1, Item 1), the obligation of officials to “mark themselves clearly” during an inspection is removed, leaving only the previous requirement “to ensure the necessary visibility”. According to Slavov, such actions, especially in heavy traffic, are extremely dangerous, create traffic jams and often by themselves become a prerequisite for an accident.
However, the logic of the deputies from GERB is that with this change, sign E 24 before the speed cameras will disappear.
In the new 278 traffic police cars, there are no mobile cameras for speeding, but “for selfies”. They were installed according to the Action Plan against corruption in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which foresees that by September 2017 a total of 600 cars of the Traffic and Security Police will be equipped.
