The measure was taken at the time because of the large crowds in the Veluwezoom National Park during corona lockdowns. In the absence of alternatives, many people went into nature. This made it impossible to comply with the corona rules on the Posbank. One-way traffic should help with that.

All corona measures have now been removed. Moreover, traffic counts show that the unilateral closure of the Schietbergseweg had an undesirable side effect. Road users eventually drove longer through the nature reserve via alternative routes (75 percent via Velp, 25 percent via De Steeg). Rheden wants to put an end to that.

The abolition of the one-way traffic on the Schietbergseweg cannot be done overnight. A traffic order is required for this. The mayor and aldermen of Rheden expect that the partial closure will actually be lifted after the publication of that decision in June.
