Traffic – Offenbach am Main – New Main Bridge in the East is being examined – Economy

Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) -A new bridge could lead over the Main east of Offenbach in the future. Several municipalities agreed on a preparatory investigation for a new building, as the regional association Frankfurt / Rhein-Main announced on Thursday. “All those involved expect clear statements from the results of the investigation as to the location and type of bridge at which traffic-wise, structurally feasible and economically feasible,” explained the association. In particular, it is about the effects on local and regional traffic. The result is expected in the first half of 2023.

A preliminary examination recommended the investigation of a “combined bridge for motorized individual traffic, local public transport, for pedestrians and cyclists” between the Rumpenheim ferry in the Offenbach-Rumpenheim area and the Steinheim bridge in the Hanau-Steinheim area. As a variant, the testing of a combined pedestrian and bicycle bridge is planned. The municipalities are the cities of Hanau, Maintal and Mühlheim and the districts of Main-Kinzig and Offenbach. The regional association also bears part of the costs of the examination.
