From May 22nd to May 24th, Hamburg can be congested, according to the ACE and ADAC auto clubs. With the holiday of Ascension Day (May 21) and a bridge day on Friday, the weekend is extended for one or the other. In some federal states, Friday is also free of school.

The ADAC classifies the highways around the metropolitan areas and the construction sites in phases as “very congested”, even if it should be less busy compared to previous years. Many motorists are likely to be drawn to the coasts of the North and Baltic Seas as well as to the recreational and holiday regions. Overall, the ACE expects more traffic than in the previous weeks, but expects moderate congestion.
Extended weekend: congestion around Hamburg
On Wednesday afternoon between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. commuters crowd the slopes. While it is relatively quiet on Friday, heavier return travel traffic is likely to roll on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
