Traffic Jam in Skjønhaug due to Ongoing Asphalt Work on National Highway 22

Many have been queuing in the center of Skjønhaug on Thursday afternoon. This is due to ongoing asphalt work on national highway 22.

A car driver tells Smaalenenes Avis that she has been sitting for over half an hour without getting past. The newspaper has been to the site itself and seen the traffic jam up close. There are queues in all directions, both from the north and from the south. In addition, there is a queue on county road 115 west from the entrance to national road 22.

– We received a tip about the queues about an hour ago and we have been in contact with those carrying out the asphalt work. They are painfully aware that there are long queues. The reason must be a mistake with the intervals on the light control. Work is being done to change this, says traffic operator Mikael Olsen at Vegtrafikksentralen East.

– Is it relevant to introduce manual routing?

– Those who carry out the work have decisions on both manual routing and light regulation. I believe that earlier today there was manual routing on site, but that light regulation has now been set up. Then we’ll see how it works when the intervals are adjusted, says Olsen.

– How long will the asphalt work last?

– The work will last until 15 September, but with the queues that have arisen today, the work cannot last that long. We have to look at that, says the traffic operator.
