From today, however, the people of Budapest can prepare for even bigger traffic jams every day, because from 4 am on Wednesday they will completely close the Chain Bridge and its surroundings from pedestrian and road traffic, expected for a year and a half.

The left-wing leadership of the capital has launched several projects involving transport hubs at the same time, making it impossible for some time to travel in the capital due to traffic jams.

As we wrote about earlier, the actual, months-long construction on the József Antall Elder quay began on June 7th. It also makes it harder for motorists to the Chain Bridge was closed from Wednesday and the renovation work on the bridge began.

At the same time, the asphalt on the Hegyalja út – Erzsébet híd – Rákóczi út line, which looked like the bypass axis of the Chain Bridge, will also start breaking in early July due to the transformation of Blaha Lujza tér. Here, a lane can be used by motorists all the way, there will be no complete closure, but a big traffic jam is still expected.

According to the preliminary information of the capital, the lower quay of Pest will be closed by the end of the year, the Chain Bridge by one and a half years, and the reconstruction of Blaha Lujza Square will be completed at the end of next year.
