Traffic Congestion at Wayanad Pass: Kozhikode District Collector Imposes Traffic Restrictions

Kozhikode: Kozhikode District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh brought traffic control at the Thamarassery Pass. Large vehicles including goods lorries have been restricted at the pass from 3 pm to 9 pm on holidays when there are a lot of tourists.

The collector’s action comes in the context of uncontrollable traffic congestion at the pass. Traffic restrictions will be imposed on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and Fridays falling on the second Saturday. These days tippers with more than six wheels, goods vehicles with more than 10 wheels, multi-axle vehicles and trucks will be fully regulated. The ban will be in effect from 6 am to 9 am on Monday.

The Collector issued the order using various sections of the Disaster Management Act. The restriction will continue until further orders. The Collector directed the Thamarassery Police to set up an emergency system to provide speedy service in emergency situations such as accidents at the pass and vehicle breakdowns.
