Traffic Congestion and Travel Times on Fourth Day of Holiday

Today (1st), the fourth day of the holiday, major highways across the country are expected to be congested with many cars heading to the metropolitan area.

The Korea Expressway Corporation predicted that congestion on the return route today will begin around 10 to 11 am, peak at 5 to 6 pm, and then ease around 11 pm to midnight.

Conversely, the road from the metropolitan area to the countryside is expected to have relatively smooth vehicle traffic.

As of 10 am, it is expected to take 6 hours 9 minutes from Busan, 5 hours 15 minutes from Mokpo, and 2 hours 59 minutes from Gangneung to reach the Seoul toll booth by car.

Today, 4.82 million vehicles are expected to use highways across the country, and traffic volume is expected to increase compared to normal Sundays.

The national highway toll exemption is only in effect until midnight today.
