Cologne (dpa) – In the case of a motorist killed by a noise barrier, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has suspended the investigation of nine suspects. A spokesman for the Cologne prosecutor’s office said Tuesday that eight suspects would be further investigated. It is still unclear if and if so when the allegations will be filed. This was reported by the “Kölnische Rundschau”.

The concrete part on the A3 in Cologne broke off in November 2020 and killed a 66-year-old driver in his car. The prosecutor’s office has indications that the attachment of the noise protection wall deviated from the originally planned construction or the approval of the building inspectorate. In the months following the accident with the six-ton reinforced concrete slab, the motorway’s noise barriers were each fitted with two steel hooks and then re-attached.
