Snowy weather caused problems in several locations in Eastern Norway on Saturday.
At E6 on Klementsrud in Oslo, there is a complete stop after five trailers have stopped.
– E6 arriving at Klemetsrud. Full stop on E6. Everyone has to drive back and forth to Klemetsrud, police said on Twitter.
Shortly thereafter, three of the wagons were reported to have set off under their own power. The other two need the help of a tow truck to be towed up the hill.
– It’s not the right shutter
Vegtrafikksentralen Øst traffic operator Hilde Bjørnstad told Dagbladet that they had had a number of traffic disruptions due to truck trains not being equipped for the conditions.
– As a driver, you are obliged to know that you have tires that are suitable for the conditions. They don’t automatically put a chain on, but they should have suitable tyres, he says.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued three warnings for snow and one for ice.
– Today there is snow in most of the country, the meteorologist on duty Ola Bakke Aashammar tells Dagbladet.
In Oslo, Østfold and in the coastal and fjord areas of Western Norway, it rained rain last night. From Mjøsa and north to Trondheim there was no rain last night. It also snowed in Nordland last night and a polar low pressure arrived in Troms with large amounts of snow on Friday. According to unofficial measurements, there was more than half a meter of snow yesterday.
In Oslo, it snowed 10 centimeters overnight until Saturday. In Blindern the snow depth now measures 16 centimetres.
Traffic problems
On Saturday morning, snowy weather has already caused traffic accidents in Eastern Norway.
During the approach to the E6 in Mosseporten, two carriages were stopped. In connection with this, there was an accident on the southbound E6, according to police messages on Twitter. The caravans have now been removed.
Shortly before 10:30 on Saturday, the collision at E6 Mosseporten was stopped again.
– New truck train got stuck in a southbound collision. Currently blocked. Police at the scene, tow trucks on the way, reports the East Police on Twitter.
Shortly before 12 the Eastern police announce that the operations to recover the train are underway and that the collision is open.
– On the main road, the right-hand lane is easily accessible. There is some snow in the left lane where there are two lanes, says traffic operator Tone Sorken in the East Traffic Center in Dagbladet.
With it being the last weekend before Christmas, there could be a lot of people going out to buy Christmas presents today.
The traffic operator has some tips for those who go out and drive in snowy weather:
– Winter tires apply on this route. Regulate your speed and pay attention to the road. Maintain a good distance from the car in front and drive according to the conditions. If you do, that’s usually fine, advises Sorken.
Vegtrafikksentralen Øst received no reports of serious incidents when Dagbladet called on Saturday morning.
Ice alarm
In addition to the three snow danger warnings, the Meteorological Institute has issued an ice warning for Agder.
– On the coast, the temperature will rise to zero degrees, so driving conditions can be difficult, especially in the local freezing fog, says meteorologist Aashammar.
For Helgeland, Salten and Saltfjellet, the snow warning lasts until 13:00 on Saturday. For inner parts of Rogaland, 20 to 40 centimeters of snow is expected today. In Eastern Norway, 5-15 centimeters of snow is expected.
By this week, the snow may be gone in Eastern Norway. There will be mild weather on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, says Aashammar meteorologist.
– In Oslo the winter atmosphere will disappear, but the snow probably won’t disappear in the fields. In the coastal areas of Vestfold, Telemark and Agder, the snow will probably disappear, says the meteorologist.
