Traffic, Cancellations | Øyvind (42) is an Otto-fast in Oslo. Avinor: – The storm has affected the entire aviation network

Sandsmark, who is also the editor-in-chief of Jærbladet, was in Oslo on business on Friday, and will therefore not get to Jæren any time soon.

Storm Otto has ravaged large parts of the country, especially in our western regions, and has caused problems for flight departures.

– Unfortunately, there have been many delays and canceled departures today. Even airports with good weather conditions, such as in Trondheim, are affected. It is the same planes that are used, informs press contact Cathrine Framholt in Avinor to Jærbladet.

Stavanger and Bergen are among the airports most affected by the severe storm.

– Just when the wind started to decrease on these, there were dense snowdrifts in Oslo which caused problems, says Framholt.

Øyvind Sandsmark was originally supposed to fly with Norwegian at 19.10, which was first postponed until 21.00 before it was cancelled. He tried to join an SAS departure at 20.40, but the flight was fully booked. All trains to Stavanger are also full on both Friday and Saturday.

– All the Norwegian flights are also full on Saturday and I was unable to find any alternatives with SAS. So then it will be an Oslo weekend, says Sandsmark.

The only possible alternative to get home is a bus from Oslo to Sandnes at eight o’clock on Saturday morning, which means eight hours on the road and includes 35 stops.
