The exit has already started. In line with slippery roads in some places, and the stress of getting home for Christmas, the Swedish Road Administration warns all drivers to pay extra close attention.
On Wednesday, there were several traffic accidents on the roads.
According to Vegtrafikksentralen öst, there has been mostly normal afternoon traffic in the area around the capital, Viken and Innlandet.
Traffic operator Christofa Kei-Nilsen points out that there have also been no reports of slippery roads.
– Nevertheless, the weather has been mild and then it has been below zero again. There has also been a light sprinkle of snow this afternoon. It can lead to slippery parts in some places, she tells Dagbladet.
Kei-Nilsen points out that Christmas traffic may start to pick up in the next few days.
– May be closed
– It is assumed that Thursday and Friday will be big departure days. In Western Norway and in Agder, the meteorologists have predicted a lot of wind for the next few days, and in Eastern Norway, a snow warning has been issued, she says and adds:
– Several mountain passes may also be closed in the next few days. Therefore, you should plan your trip according to the conditions.
A tool that gives you good overview of the conditions on the exposed road sections and shows you the probability that roads and mountain passes will be closed, is the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s new service. Here you will find a list of above a hundred mountain passes and sections subject to closure.
– Many are probably stressed now. Then it is important to breathe with your stomach and drive well. There may be queues in the next few days, so it may be good to allow extra time.
