A traffic accident reported this Friday night in the place known as “Los Moteles” on the highway that leads from Sonsonate to Acajutla, left one person dead and eleven more with injuries to different parts of the body.
Rescuers from Rescue Commands confirmed that the deceased and the injured were traveling in a pick-up that collided with an all-terrain truck that was driven by a citizen of Honduran nationality. The crash occurred at kilometer 68 of the aforementioned highway.
Three of the injured were identified as Edith Mercedes Quintanilla, 60 years old; Kenia Yamileth Mejía Pérez, 38, and Marna Ruiz, 60, all residing in the district of Nahulingo, department of Sonsonate.
The injured were stabilized at the scene of the accident and then taken to the Jorge Mazzini Villacorta National Hospital in Sonsonate. The health status of the patients was not disclosed.
While the police inspection was carried out to determine responsibilities, it was necessary to close a section of the road and the passage was enabled in the early hours of this Saturday.
