Traditional Floss vs Toothpicks: Which is Better for Oral Hygiene?

DPA-

Cleaning between the teeth with floss or a toothpick is an important habit to maintain oral and dental hygiene, and prevent plaque accumulation and gum infections.

But which is better to use, sticks or traditional floss?

Traditional thread

Traditional floss is characterized by its ability to reach narrow areas between the teeth, where the brush cannot reach.

It also helps remove plaque from below the gum line, which can erode tooth enamel and develop into tartar that can cause tooth discoloration.

Toothpicks

Floss picks can be an alternative to traditional floss if you have difficulty using them, due to problems with wrist movement, such as arthritis.

But it is important to change the toothpick with a piece of floss after each use, so as not to redistribute bacteria to other areas of the teeth.

Or rinse the stick well before reusing it to get rid of the sticky substance.

The American Dental Association recommends flossing between the teeth at least once a day to prevent gum infections and tartar accumulation.

If you use toothpicks, you must change the toothpicks after each use.
