Television is another guest at many family gatherings tonight, even if it is as the accompaniment on which conversations, toasts and laughter take place. The networks are preparing programming for tonight in which they usually resort to the classics and do not experiment with new features. TVE plays it safe in its Christmas programming. For 33 years now, the public channel has been betting on Telepasión (9:15 p.m.) for Christmas Eve, a musical format in which a good number of faces from the channel participate. This year’s installment is titled Nobody is Perfect, it is directed by Juan Luis Iborra and pays tribute to the great film classics. Rodrigo Vázquez, Aitor Albizua and Patricia Conde are the drivers of the story that was recorded in Madrid, Toledo, Benidorm, Seville and Barcelona. Next come the traditional musical galas. Pablo López is the protagonist of the first (10.22). The musician from Malaga will be accompanied by artists such as Manuel Carrasco, Sebastián Yatra, Raphael, Ana Belén, David Bisbal or Antonio Orozco. Then it will be Camela’s turn (11:30 p.m.). The kings of tecnorumba celebrate three decades on stage with companions such as Taburete, El Arrebato, Pastora Soler, Beret and Vicco. The night will close with several installments of Viaje al centro de la tele (00.40), the program that looks at the TVE archive with humor. Laughter will also be the stars of the night on La 2. The second TVE network will program several installments of How We Laugh (9:15 p.m. onwards), which reviews the best moments of the best Spanish comedians.

It is already a classic that Atresmedia’s main channel fills Christmas Eve with The Best of Each House (9:15 p.m.), a compilation with funny, surreal or shocking moments broadcast on the network’s programs. After First Dates: Christmas Eve of Love, Cuatro gives the night over to two classic nineties romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts. Pretty Woman (9:30 p.m.) will be on free-to-air television for the umpteenth time to try to demonstrate that the film with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere maintains its great pull. Next, it will be the turn of Notting Hill (00.05), where Roberts shares scenes with Hugh Grant.

Christmas Eve with you (21.15) will be the title of the program that Christian Gálvez and Verónica Dulanto will present on Telecinco and will consist of the classic parade of musical performances linked with some jokes by the hosts. Among the invited artists are Ana Mena, Blas Cantó, Gloria Trevi, Sergio Dalma, Blanca Paloma, Miguel Poveda or Effect Pasillo and some others who will also participate in galas on other channels.

Whoever prefers something from fiction will have two options in which action is the protagonist. First, La Sexta will program US Marshals (9:15 p.m.), with Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes as protagonists. Next it will be the turn of Glimmer Man (23.55), with Steven Seagal playing a veteran detective who will investigate some macabre murders.

The platforms also have some proposals for those who want to see something that goes out of the ordinary. On Sunday the 24th, Atresplayer premieres the documentary series Tino Casal, a tribute to the benchmark of Madrid’s Movida. That same day, the third season of The Chosen (The Chosen) premieres on Movistar Plus+, the fictional series that follows the life of Jesus Christ and begins with Jesus preparing to give his famous Sermon on the Mount. The next day, the 25th, Movistar Plus+ will premiere the special Christmas episode of the British comedy Fantasmas, which will definitively end the series.
