Pierre, Chartrain, 37, walks through the chalets of the Christmas market on the Place des Halles, this Saturday morning, December 24: “I’m preparing my presents, I have to hurry. There are good ideas here.”
Inaugurated on 9 December, the Christmas market closed its doors on Saturday 24 December. The few shopkeepers interviewed draw up an overall satisfactory balance of the fifteen days of opening.
The Chartres Christmas market begins
This is the case with Kelly, who offered mulled wine in particular: «We saw a lot of people, especially on weekends. I’ve been coming here to the market for five years, in December, and I find that attendance has been similar to the other editions.”
“I had fears, with the current darkness”
Carole, artisan jewelery shop, was also satisfied: «I did almost the same as last year. It’s been a good year, see me there. great atmosphere.”
Aurora, a seller of Spanish gastronomic products, ran a chalet in the last days of the market: «People came for a walk, there’s curiosity. It was simpler than last year, when the health card was needed ».

In her chalet located opposite the entrance to the capital, Clara, an independent producer and seller of honey, observes however:
“The average basket is quite good, despite the economic situation, the World Cup and the weather. But the installation of the chalets, in a circle on the square, means that there has perhaps been less exchange and cordiality between the traders of the market “.
