Trader Joe’s, a popular grocery store chain, has issued a recall for its chicken soup dumplings due to the possible presence of foreign material. The recall was initiated by CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corp., the company responsible for producing the dumplings. Approximately 61,839 pounds of steamed chicken soup dumplings are being recalled.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has reported that the dumplings may be contaminated with hard plastic from a permanent marker pen. This poses a potential health risk to consumers. The affected product, sold as Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings, was produced on December 7, 2023.
Trader Joe’s has stated that 6,871 cases of the product were shipped to their retail locations nationwide. The company is urging customers who have purchased the dumplings to check their freezers for the recalled product. The FSIS is concerned that some consumers may still have the contaminated dumplings in their possession.
The issue with the dumplings was brought to light after several consumers complained about finding hard plastic in the product. The FSIS advises individuals who have purchased the recalled dumplings to either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase. The boxes containing the affected dumplings can be identified by the lot codes “03.07.25.C1-1” and “03.07.25.C1-2” printed on the side of the box. Additionally, they bear the establishment number “P-46009” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Fortunately, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or injuries resulting from the consumption of these products. However, individuals who are concerned about potential health issues should seek medical attention from a healthcare provider.
This is not the first time Trader Joe’s has faced a product recall. Just last month, the store was affected by a recall of products containing cheese made by Rizo-López Foods of Modesto, California, due to a potential risk of listeria contamination. Trader Joe’s is taking these recalls seriously and is working diligently to ensure the safety of their customers.
CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corp., the company responsible for the production of the recalled dumplings, has launched an investigation into the matter. Schwan’s Company, the parent company of CJ Foods, has assured consumers that they are working with their food safety experts to address the issue and prevent it from happening again in the future.
As consumers, it is essential to stay informed about product recalls and take appropriate action if we have purchased any affected items. Trader Joe’s is known for its commitment to providing high-quality products, and they are taking the necessary steps to rectify this situation. By being vigilant and following the guidelines provided by the FSIS, we can ensure our safety and well-being when it comes to the food we consume.
