Following the ballot vote of the two unions UFO and Vereinigung Cockpit, strikes are possible at the Lufthansa subsidiary Discover Airlines.
Frankfurt – The union members of UFO and Vereinigung Cockpit have voted with a large majority for the Industrial action at Lufthansa subsidiary DiscoverThis was announced by both unions after the ballot vote on Wednesday (21 August).
Strikes at Lufthansa subsidiary Discover Airlines possible “immediately at any time”
In the ballot held by the flight attendants’ union UFO, a majority of almost 92 percent voted in favor of industrial action to conclude collective agreements for the first time, the union announced. A majority of 81 percent of the cockpit employees surveyed also voted in favor of a strike in response to the corresponding question from the pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC). Voter turnout was 90 percent, the VC explained.
“Indefinite industrial action is now possible at any time.” Both employee representatives said there would be close coordination between the two unions on this matter.
Unions UFO and Cockpit want to make Verdi’s contract with Lufthansa Group superfluous
The two trade unions are working closely together to make a parallel, existing collective agreement between the rival union Verdi and the company superfluous. Instead, they want to implement their own collective agreement.
