Trade unionists erupt: ‘Obligation to periodically test, on personal costs, health workers who have immunity is an abuse’ – News by sources

The Federation “Sanitary Solidarity” calls on all state institutions to stop abuses of health workers who have acquired immunity following SARS-CoV-2 infection.

“The abuse is the official statements and provisions of the Methodology for surveillance of acute respiratory syndrome with the new coronavirus (COVID-19), updated on 02.07.2021 (p. 9). After throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the INSP and those responsible for coordinating actions against the government’s pandemic have missed the correct record of infected, deceased and vaccinated health professionals, these institutions are now becoming a source of abuse. this category of workers. The following errors in the previously mentioned document are under discussion:

1. Non-recognition of immunity acquired by health workers following SARS-CoV-2 infection, proven by the existence of antibodies

2. Use of periodic testing as an implicit form of vaccination obligation

3. Discriminatory treatment of health workers

4. Uncertainty is used against health workers

5. The burden of proof and the costs of evidence are wrongly attributed to employees

6. The provisions in question aim at expanding / maintaining the testing business at the expense of public health workers.

In the Annex to this press release we present the arguments that demonstrate each of the errors.

The overall analysis of the situation shows that the authorities confuse the means with the purposes: the main purpose of this category of epidemiological approaches is to obtain immunity against SARS-CoV-2, vaccination being one of the means to achieve this goal. In other words, vaccination must be used to obtain immunity when it is lacking, not to dispel the doubts of the authorities or to use at any cost the vaccines already purchased. When health workers who already have immunity become de facto obliged to be vaccinated, as is the case with these measures announced by the authorities, the costs arising from the limits of knowledge and the risks associated with them are borne by health workers in these situations. .

As it has continuously stated publicly and proved through its actions, the Federation “Sanitary Solidarity” supports the vaccination of health workers. However, we do not support the use of vaccines at any cost. Vaccination is the right solution to get immunity when it is lacking.

The Health Solidarity Federation drew the attention of the government several months ago to the real percentage of vaccinated health workers, to the errors in the vaccination campaign, to the solutions to stimulate vaccination of this category of professionals and to the need to find that workers who underwent an episode of SARS-CoV-2 infection should be considered immunized. Proper monitoring of the number of infected health workers, done (only by) the Federation “Sanitary Solidarity” within the Platform for Monitoring Infected Health Workers, is a useful tool to identify the real immunity of health workers against SARS-CoV- 2.

The main reason for the failure of EU vaccination targets for health workers is the refusal to launch a campaign among health workers. A rhetorical question may highlight the inconsistency and incompetence of those responsible for coordinating vaccination: How can unvaccinated health workers be required to test if the Romanian authorities stated 5 weeks ago that 96.3% had already been vaccinated with both doses, the percentage of those vaccinated with at least one dose being… 102.6% ?! The answer to this question is sufficient on its own to justify the need for resignations: the Romanian authorities have provided erroneous data, out of a desire to report at any cost the achievement of the objectives. Failure to meet vaccination targets should not be reimbursed by health workers (by forcing those who already have immunity to vaccinate and by forcing unvaccinated health workers to pay for unnecessary tests), but by those responsible for coordinating this vaccination campaign and guaranteeing its success.

The Health Solidarity Federation further recommends that all health workers who do not have immunity against SARS-CoV-2 be vaccinated, the Federation’s press release said.
