Trade policy: should Switzerland be in Asia?

The growth markets are mainly in Asia. Switzerland is laboriously weaving a network of bilateral trade agreements with Asian countries. Wouldn’t joining an economic alliance in the Pacific region be a liberation for Swiss trade policy?

Two years ago eleven countries signed the agreement on a trans-Pacific partnership in Chile. The big absentee was the USA.
