– They are affected in our local community and they are followed up by our crisis team, says councilor Alf Petter Tenfjord in Midtre Gauldal to VG. They coordinate the work with the neighboring municipality of Melhus to take care of the family and employer of the deceased person.
– It is very tragic, what has happened. Now we will give family and people around the support we can, he says.
The police in Trøndelag reported the incident at 06.56. The police were present shortly afterwards:
– It is a serious accident and an air ambulance is on its way now. The tractor is in the river, said operations manager Kirsten Bergstrøm to VG earlier Tuesday morning. Divers were also sent to the scene.
Employees and train passengers not physically injured
It is Rørostoget that collided with the tractor, says Hilde Lyng, information manager at SJ, the company operates the train. She does not currently have an overview of the number of passengers who were on board. The accident happened at Håggåbrua which crosses the river Gaula.
– Accidents like this are just terribly sad, she says about what has happened.
– Our employees and passengers are not physically injured. The train has suffered major damage in the front, but is still on the track. We now take care of our employees and passengers, she says.

Dovrebanen is closed after the accident, reports Bane Nor. The Oslo S – Trondheim S train lines and the local train between Trondheim and Støren are closed. It was the train manager who alerted the police.

The operations manager states that good work is being done on site to get an overview of all passengers and take care of everyone involved. The municipality has been notified.
