JAKARTA, KOMPAS — A number of virus samples examined from transmission cases in Kudus Regency, Central Java, showed the presence of the B.1,617 SARS-CoV-2 virus variant from India. Transmission due to variants of the virus is estimated to have been widespread. Tracking and inspection also need to be more intensive, including in the area around Kudus.
Director of Prevention and Control of Directly Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that from the results of genome sequencing examinations in case samples in Kudus Regency, it was found that there were variants of the virus mutation from India. “There are already positive ones (mutated variants from India) but we don’t know how many have been confirmed,” he said when contacted in Jakarta, Saturday (12/6/2021).
