Track subsided due to Zuidasdok work: line 51 will not run until tomorrow

After work for the Zuidasdok project at Zuid station last weekend, it appears that one metro track has subsided. That is why the track cannot be used at least until tomorrow, with the result that line 51 will not run today and tomorrow. Line 50 is used to the maximum. Tonight the GVB will investigate and see how serious the subsidence is. It will then become clear whether and for how long the track will be out of service.

At the site where the new Brittenpassage is being built, a monitoring system showed that there was subsidence. The future roof of the second passenger tunnel at Zuid station is located under the metro track. This part was moved into place in 2021. According to experts from Zuidasdok and Nieuw-Zuid Construction Combination, it is unclear what the exact cause of the subsidence is.

This evening, therefore, further research will be carried out into the subsidence. For example, rails, sleepers and ballast will be temporarily removed from this location. Amsterdam South Axis let it be known that the environment is not expected to be affected by noise. After this short examination, it can be determined how much time the recovery will take.
