Yesterday’s test match at Pala Dal Lago, with the Azzurri facing the Serie A2 team TR Azzurra Novara (7-0 result for the record), was a truly warm embrace with the city of San Gaudenzio, which has reawakened that love that has connected Novara with track hockey for a century. The smiles of the many boys and girls who, thanks to various Novara companies, are reviving the myth of the wheels, overwhelmed the Azzurri, evidently excited by the unexpected outburst of passion supported by the over 2000 enthusiasts present in the stands.
An event that allowed the Technical Commissioner Alessandro Bertolucci to test the new national team in view of the upcoming “Coupe des Nations” in Montreux (Switzerland) where eight teams will compete for one of the most prestigious tournaments in the history of training wheels, now in its edition number 69, where the 100 years of the international World Skate federation will also be celebrated.
Azzurri who will make their debut tomorrow in the Nations Cup against Montreux, then playing for their chances of a medal against Angola and Argentina. “It’s extraordinary – comments the national coach Alessandro Bertolucci – to find Novara again and it’s extraordinary that here in this city in five months, there will be a World Championship that Italy hasn’t organized for thirty years. The coach from Viareggio himself was the protagonist of his umpteenth winning run over the weekend. After having won everything in his career as a player and having coached in Trissino, winning everything again for two years, he also managed to lift a trophy in Forte dei Marmi, historic opponents of Viareggio. On Sunday the victory in the Italian Cup Final of Forte dei Marmi – Centro Porsche Firenze at the PalaForte against Consorzio Maremmano Cave Follonica, a great Tuscan derby which has been marking the rolls of honor for several seasons.
