“The Marseillaise, when there is silence and it starts, it’s crazy.” Dorian Foulon is on cloud nine; her tears of joy, on the podium of Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, have shown it well. Normal, the Breton has just achieved the feat on the velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, by confirming his title of Tokyo, three years ago, on the individual pursuit 4,000 meters Men C5. After having broken the world record in qualifications (4’13″934), Dorian Foulon largely dominated the Ukrainian Yehor Dementyev in the final. He tells the microphone of France 2 : “In the last laps, it was tough, the Ukrainian was very strong. We were within a second of each other, and mentally, it was all in the head. I was listening with both ears to the public to push me.”

“A unique moment in a lifetime”
“Since the beginning of the medal ceremony, I was already emotional, continues Dorian Foulon. To share this (the Marseillaise), it’s a unique moment in a lifetime and to experience it today (Saturday), it’s incredible. I can’t believe it, it’s crazy, the public responded. It’s crazy. The Games aren’t over, I’m going to be able to enjoy it tonight and on Wednesday, there will be another medal to go for. In Tokyo, there was no one. There, there’s my staff, I owe them a lot, my girlfriend, who has done a lot over the last year and a half and all my loved ones who made the trip, it’s just incredible. When you do the laps of the track, you don’t want it to end.”
