He began his bobsleigh career as a brakeman and originally came from athletics. Now the Mürzzuschlager Styrian Jakob Mandlbauer has achieved his first great success as a pilot. Multiple champions in domestic athletics, including U18 all-around champion in Styria, now the 24-year-old won the bronze medal in the U23 bobsleigh at the Junior World Championships in Innsbruck/Igls with his lower Austrian partner Daiyehan Nichols-Bardy for the Treichl bobsleigh team . The title was only 0.85 seconds short.
