Track and field athletes get in shape – athletics

At the indoor sports festival in Mannheim there were a number of good performances and podium places for the track and field athletes in the region. Piet Hoyer from TV Riegel ran over 400 meters for the youth U18 in a strong 51.94 seconds when he won. Emily Martig (LC Breisgau) won the shot put competition with a distance of 10.58 meters for the female youth U18. Noah Fischer (TV Herbolzheim) reached 6.83 meters in the long jump for the U-20 victory.

When she started the season indoors, Sophia Sommer from USC Freiburg ran 56.99 seconds as the third-placed woman over 400 meters. The Kaisershler qualified for the indoor championships (57.00) in Dortmund on February 18th. Over 200 meters, Sommer finished fifth in 25.26 seconds against strong competition. Her club colleagues Natalie Fllgraf (25.80) and Hannah Omer (26.52) took fifth and eighth place. Rene Fabienne Berg ran over 400 meters of the U20 in 62.39 seconds in third place, Sarah Eckerfeld (63.76) was fifth. In the U18, Ellen Ganter was third over 400 meters (64.64), Rebekka Flotho (all USC) over 800 meters (2:30.20) second. Best result for U-20 multi-competitor Jonas van der Does (LC Breisgau) was fourth place in the shot put.
